I first visited Duckworth's because it was convenient to my hotel during a business trip to Charlotte. I was amazed at the selection of beers that were offered and was pleased with the food. I've made numerous return visits since and have had a terrific experience every time. The choice of beer, the food, the abundant televisions on various sport channels and the friendly attendant staff all make you look forward to the sequel. An added bonus is that everyone is carded . . . so be prepared to feel young again!
The Story
Duckworth's opened its first restaurant in Mooresville, NC in September, 2004 following a trip to Philadelphia, PA where the owners visited just about every Philly shop in town and ate Cheesesteaks for breakfast, lunch and dinner (literally) for 3 days. The objective of that trip was to get an idea of what's done in the Cheesesteak capital then bring it back to North Carolina to create their twist on the idea.
After about a year of testing menu items they were ready to put the menu together, which consisted of about 18 Philly Cheesesteaks/Subs, Fresh Cut Fries and Ice Cream (yes, ice cream). So, on September 16, 2004, Duckworth's was born.
Nearly a year after opening with the realization that ice cream wasn't too popular the ice cream bar was replaced with a beer bar, which offered 19 taps - that was the beginning of what would become Duckworth's entry into the draft beer world.

Today, even more draft beers than ever before are available and additional Duckworth's locations were opened. The same philosophy is still used - to create simple, non-pretentious menu items that taste great and offer superb beer selections that contain unique and rare beers that can't be found just anywhere.
Bonus #2
Well, if being carded isn't what makes you feel good, then perhaps the Tastevin iPad assistant will. Along with the menu you receive a leather-bound iPad with a very cool program. It allows you to scroll through the beer, wine and spirits selections with a search feature, details on the menu item you are looking at as well as a wish list so you don't forget the ones that sounded good to you! Wow, I really love technology making my dining experience so memorable! Check out some of the details...

Comfort food is one of my favorite cuisines. What's better than watching a game and eating one of your ultimate couch potato staples! Ask any server and they will be quick to tell you that they are most known for their Philly Cheesesteaks (no surprise there) and second in line are their wings. The wings come in a variety of flavors with two of them receiving awards for their deliciousness. The Sweet n' Bold Gold (10 wings - $9.99), which won First Place at the 2011 Carolina Wing Festival, have a nice heat with a hint of sweet.
