Jean-Luc Joillot Rosé Crémant de Bourgogne

For years I've enjoyed Jean-Luc Joillot's Crémant de Bourgogne, it's refreshing crisp flavor and acidity along with it's great value.  I always thought that the only way that Jean-Luc could improve upon it was to make a Rosé - because I love sparkling Rosé!  Well, I've marked 2013 as the year that he finally made it happen and released a Rosé Crémant de Bourgogne and with 100% Pinot Noir to boot.  What could possibly be better?

In the $30.00 range at your favorite wine shop, you may have to request it by name since it has a very limited production at only 400 cases.  This beauty has some nice depth to it given that the Pinot Noir comes from the village of Pommard, France which lends itself to Pinots with dark fruit and structure.  Yet it still offers a clean refreshing lift on your palate.

Crémant de Bourgogne is sparkling wine made Méthode Champenoise (traditional method of making Champagne) in Burgundy, France.  Burgundy is known for its world class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, two of the three grape varietals used in making Champagne.  Jean-Luc ages the wine for over 16 months on the lees which exceeds the requirement that even non-vintage Champagne for it's prestigious brands.  It is like having a true Rosé Champagne at half the cost.

The Rosé Crémant de Bourgogne offers pinpoint bubbles in a creamy mousse with strawberry and raspberry layered in crisp acidity.  This clean and refreshing Rosé is my new favorite sparkling Rosé!

The dark salmon color of this Rosé makes it even more attractive.  I can't wait to hear what you think of it!
